Biography
Bill Hudak is not a career politician, but a man motivated by a broken Congress, a country in economic decline, and a nation on the verge of losing its moral compass to put aside his personal life to step up and serve.
Commencing in July, 2009, having never run for office before, Bill mounted a spirited campaign for United States Congress for the Sixth Congressional District, won a Republican Primary with almost 80% of the vote, and in November, 2010, achieved the distinction of receiving the second highest number of votes of any Massachusetts Republican running for Congress since 1998, with 43.1% of the total vote.
Bill was honored to receive endorsements from former Presidential Candidate Steve Forbes, former Massachusetts Governor and current Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney, endorsements from United States Senator Scott Brown, and others. While falling short of victory in 2010, he is credited by a longstanding state Republican Party official with changing the face of politics in the Sixth Congressional District, energizing the Republican City and Town Committees in the area while building his own campaign organization, and facilitating the creation of, and supporting, multiple tea party groups. Bill gave the entrenched incumbent, John Tierney, his biggest challenge since 1998, and causing him to virtually exhaust his war chest to keep his seat. Bill now seeks to continue what he started in 2012.
For over 28 years prior to his first run, Bill Hudak has fought for employees in the workplace. He intends to take that fight to Washington to create new jobs and force government to tighten its belt and live on a budget, just like our families do.
Professionally, Bill has been a practicing attorney since 1983 when he graduated from Boston College Law School. After several years in large law firms in New York City and Boston, Bill founded Hudak Law Offices in 1986, in Saugus, Massachusetts, where it has evolved and remained ever since. Bill is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina and Florida, and various federal courts all the way up to the United States Supreme Court. Bill is also a licensed real estate broker, passed all exams necessary to engage in the insurance business, and is a notary public.
Besides practicing law, Hudak is a small business owner and an entrepreneur, having owned and operated small businesses since 1997, including a travel business, a real estate construction and development firm, and a vending company. Through it all, for the past 26 years, Bill has been an active member of the state business and local community, including various Chambers of Commerce, professional organizations, and notably serving the Saugus Rotary Club where he has served as President and twice nominated Rotarian of the Year for outstanding service to the club and his community.
Bill believes that the politicians in Washington seem more concerned with serving the special interests than they do serving the people. He’s fought for consumers and for workers’ rights and has the experience to take that same fight to Washington.
As someone who has signed paychecks and created jobs, Bill understands that Washington does not “create” jobs, it can only provide small businesses with the resources to help them grow and expand. Deficit spending, huge tax increases and government bureaucracy will only stifle job creation. Bill believes that by investing in small business, providing tax incentives and a trained workforce, America’s small business will once again be the engine of our economy.
Bill is an outdoorsman with an adventurer’s spirit. He holds a private pilot’s license, a license to carry firearms, and an open water scuba diving certification. His other primary activities include community service, golf, softball, hunting, fishing, hiking and camping, skiing, water sports, and travel.
Bill is the eldest son of nine children, initially raised in Ohio, attending St. Michael's elementary school and Princeton High School. At Princeton, he was a member of the Ohio State Debate championship team, as well as the State Champion Student Congressman.
Bill graduated magna cum laude from Seton Hall University with a double major in history and political science, backgrounds suiting him well for careers in business and the law. Bill attained national distinction as a four yer member of the University's elite National Debate Tournament Qualifying Varsity Debate Team, was elected and served as President of the Student Government Association, and was honored at graduation with the University Service Medal, given to the student making the most significant contribution to University life. Bill continued his education at the Boston College Law School receiving his J.D. degree with honors in 1983. He was a member of the Boston College Law Review, and citations editor.
Bill and his wife, Angela, have been married for 29 years, have two children, William III (“Trey”), age 24, and Joanie, age 22. They currently reside in Boxford, Massachusetts.
