For Women
Hello, and Welcome.
I believe in individual equality, irrespective of gender. Period.
I do not believe that someone’s capacity to make decisions, at home or at work, political or otherwise, is defined or affected by gender. People are unique individuals, free to think and act independently based on their own life circumstances.
I believe in allowing a woman to choose her path in life. If a woman chooses a career, to stay home to raise children, or decides to do both, she has my unbridled blessing and respect – just as I would give to any man who elects likewise.
Progress requires allowing each and every individual to flourish based on merit, and merit alone, and to receive equal benefits accordingly. I do not believe it is right for government or any person to deprive any human being of any rights based on sex. Similarly, I do not believe it is the role of government to give anyone, man or woman, preferential treatment because of his or her gender.
I have devoted a large portion of my law practice to representing workers, particularly women, in settlement and litigation of claims that they have been treated unfairly or discriminated against as employees in the workplace. I have also fought hard to protect consumers from unscrupulous business practices, protecting those most vulnerable and insuring fairness, honest, and integrity in dealings between businesses and consumers.
I do not respect politicians who embrace a shallow “pro-woman” agenda solely in an effort to win votes, and I will never do so. Those who do so demean a woman’s value as a human being, and are patronizing and disrespectful of women and their rights to be equal.
I believe that each human being is naturally born with his or her liberty intact, and that individual liberty is central to our way of life in America. It is unfortunate that all too early in our nation’s history lawmakers lost sight of that fact when they chose to preclude women (and minorities for that matter) from voting and participating as equals in our society. In fact, it was our own Government which deprived these groups of their fundamental rights and freedoms, and treated them as second class, unequal, citizens.
To attain equality, our prior generations, oppressed by violation of this moral natural law, had to rise up against their own government; a battle which regrettably has taken all too long. Yet despite the many obstacles and opposition they faced, strong willed men and women alike, all armed with a keen sense of morality from all walks of life, fought valiantly to achieve those ends. Their struggles led to the abolition of slavery, elimination of oppression and disenfranchisement of minorities, and formal recognition of a woman’s right to vote; finally offering everyone an equal opportunity to participate and succeed in our society. These important milestones have been rightfully enshrined in our culture and our nation’s political system by virtue of the 14th, 15th, and 19th amendments to our Constitution.
Truth is, a woman is liberated more fully by having access to the same opportunities, and being judged by the same standards, as men; and having those rights restored to them as individuals and not to the class as a whole as collectivists so commonly claim.
